I have a Ram mount that I use for my phone when I need to use my GPS. You can put it on in just a few seconds and when your done with it, throw it back in the saddlebag. Make sure you get the rubber band strap to help secure it. I've seen videos of people losing their phone off of the mount without the strap.
have one for my GPS on my handlebar, they are inexpensive and work great. I just leave the mounting ball on the handlebars and the GPS mount is seconds to install and remove. they also have holders for all of the popular GPS devices. here is the handlebar mount ball I have.

What do you use for a gps? A actual unit or your phone? If you use the phone, I recommend the ciro3d with the perch mount. I like mine better than the ram x grip I had before. Also way less bulky looking to me.

I like the ciro3d, my only beef is that the charging model has to be connected to the battery and doesn’t have an option to connect to my SAE.
I have the Ram u-bolt mount and it works great. While I have the rubber tether, I rarely use it. I mount the phone horizontally, and never had a problem with the phone coming loose. The only thing I have to watch for is making sure the arms don't push the side buttons on my i-Phone.
