Not
t sure if anyone answered this for ya, but you can. I have an iphone 6 and if I set my screen so it never goes to sleep, you can ask Siri to read twxt messages and she will. You can send text messages thru Siri even when phone is asleep, as long as you have the function "listen for hey Siri" turned on. Its a lot trickier through the WHIM. But if you go phone to helmet, its pretty easy.

I think what convinced me to go FF was actually reading a book. It was called Lois on the Loose, by Lois Pryce. A good read, the woman is an excellent writer, and the stories were great. When she was in South America, riding with a female friend, her friend was leading on this particular day. The friend rounded a turn ahead of Lois, and by the time Lois got there, all she saw was chaos. Her friend had crashed, and no one had any idea why, but she landed face first into the side of a hill. Her nose and jaw, and I think one of her eye sockets as well. Many days in the hospital. She was wearing a 3/4 helmet.

That really got me thinking. Bought a new modular a week later. I have still ridden with my 3/4, when its really hot, but probably will try to wear only the FF this summer. There IS a HUGE difference in air flow between the two though, especially behind that fairing.

MHR is one of many companies who make helmets for HD. They're also the lesser known company. I wouldn't expect too much considering the $135 price tag but it might be a decent helmet depending on what you're looking for. They are quite a few reviews on this helmet on HD's website.

Eventually I checked it. Here it costs about $ 200. Overall it's looks OK, except shield: only full closed and full open positions, no partially open positions. Most of cheap helmets nowadays have this option.

For 200 bucks, you can pick up a Bell SRT. The sheild has the option to partially open. Very good helmet for the money.

On my sportbike I wear a 1400.00 helmet, on the harley I wear a 120.00 beanie which really searves only one purpose....to appease the cops.
Besides I take my time (mostly) on the harley..... the sport bike is at the complete opposite end of the riding experience....
Point is you get what you pay for in helmets.

That's a good suggestion. One of my helmets is a Bell SRT. Excellent helmet for the money. It has a wide opening for good peripheral vision and where the shield doesn't have detents it does crack open for airflow, which is all I really need anyway. I added the transitional shield on mine and it works great.

I've been FF since day one. I wear it because things happen. It's the same reason I don't stay in the center of the lane behind trucks and big suvs. They can run right over a dead deer raccoon, or debris but we can't. I do ride in rain. Sometimes rain turns into hail. I also learned the hard way that hail isn't uniform in size. Small sized hail can be followed by a baseball sized chunk of ice. Then there are the rocks and bits of tire that get kicked up by cars and trucks. I have enough scars. The only downside is there are less places for venomous spiders to hide in a peanut helmet. Ask me how I know!!

I've told here many times of my Fire Chief buddy's opinion on motorcycle helmets. When they get a motorcycle down call, if the rider has no helmet or half helmet, they assume dead. 3/4 helmet is sever face damage. Neck damage with a full face.

The highway patrol around here switch to full face helmets when they saw data that showed 3/4 helmets come off the rider in falls faster than 50 MPH.

I've always worn a FF and it feels real weird when I take the bike just around the block w/o the helmet to check something. I also typically ride without the shield because it's a lot cooler. Yes, a bug does nail me once in a while. But, it's worth it in Oklahoma heat.
