Default Last ride

The day is bitter sweet...took my bike out for it's (and mine) last ride recently. Decided to sell it, as it was time, my age, and a few more physical disabilities limiting my enjoyment. I'm 74 years old (young) and enjoyed every minute with this bike!! Did a couple of 400 plus mile days last year, and just recently 100 mile days around my local area, mainly just enjoying the local beaches and countryside.

Best bike I ever owned....6 Harleys, 2 Hondas, and a '65 BSA back in 1968 (worst of them all) Never had an accident, thankfully, yet it was time. Sold it to the first caller, who had been looking for this exact model (like I was several years ago, when I bought her) I guess I was lucky to sell it right before the winter, and yet I miss her already. Today is beautiful...65 degrees and sunny, perfect!! A couple of pics from the last ride...

Good- bye....hope your new owner enjoys and takes care of you well....

God bless you!!! Thank you for sharing. I have some years before I get there. My guess is that you feel that having ridden and then stopped is better than never having ridden at all.

I love the bike and the sheep's pelt.

Sorry to hear about your decision but before you "hang up" your boots forever conside this:

In the summer od 2015 I rode down to Nashville, TN and met my cousin (actually my cousin's husband) and his adult son for what has been an annual event for several years.
Our plans were to ride the Natchez Trace (south) to Natchez, MA and then decide where we would proceed from there on a week long ride.

At that time, my cousin's husband was close to 70 years old and still riding the '92 Heritage that I sold him back in '94.
He had "tipped over" on the bike (once while sitting at a traffic light) and due to his age, along with having C.O.P.D., losing some physical strength and reaction times. he was thinking that his time for riding his bike was quickly coming to and end.
I'd talked to him about the possibility of buying a trike because I was having problems (a bad knee) of my own and I had at least started to look more at trikes and that a friend of ours was also thinking the same way.

As luck (good or bad) would have it, we stopped in at the H-D delaership in Jackson, MS (for poker chips) and he started looking at the many trikes that they had in the showroom and he was somewhat shocked of the prices that they were offering on what would soon be "past model" trikes.

With some encouragement from me, combined with a call to his wife and a good trade-in offer for his Heritage, we rode out of that dealership at closing time tha day and he was on a new Tri-Glide!

Fast forwarding to this summer, he has 30,000+ miles on that same trike and last summer we rode to New Foundland and he rides more often than I do (he lives in TN)!

Not saying that a trike is for you but i is something that you should at least consider.

Seems like we have a lot in common as I started riding in '69 and I've also had many bikes (Hondas, 1 BSA and many H-D's) and I don't ride my CVO Ultra much since I got my Tri-Glide in 2018 but I'm not at the point where I'm ready to sell it, especially in today's market but I know the day will soon come when I will have no choice.

Hope you don't miss that nice ride too much!

Great looking bike no wonder you didn't have any trouble selling it. Sorry to hear of your decision but we all have to make it sometime. Glad you had such a good riding history as you did. There are still 3 wheelers, just saying.
