As mentioned by someone earlier in the thread, they supposedly solved that issue .

I guess I'll find out next spring. For anyone thinking of buying one, There was a video somewhere on their site that advised you to insert a measuring tape into the seat slot behind the driver. If it measures less than 7" to the fender you need the low profile version of the backrest.

Well I ordered a Grasshopper backrest a while ago but had to wait for Christmas because it was a gift. I also managed to sell my Zumo 396 which I didn’'t realize was Bluetooth only, no audio out, and purchase a Zumo 395, which went under the tree as well.

I installed the back rest today I was very impressed with the quality considering the price. It was very easy to install and matches the OEM seat perfectly.

I also installed the Zumo 395 along with a patch cord to the head unit. I can hear the directions through both speakers now. Had to drill a hole in the left side of the console for the power supply cable. I had previously sourced a rubber grommet and a little plastic collar that fits inside the centre of the grommet. I took my time and I think it turned out well. Come on Spring!

I put a Grasshopper backrest on my 2019 Ultra Classic shortly after I bought it in August. I have put almost 5,000 miles on it so far and love it.

It doesn't fold forward, so your passenger has to kind of climb over it. My wife hasn't ridden on the back of my bike in over 20 years, so I'm not too worried about that.

I guess putting it on a 2-up seat stops the POS from bending

That may very well be. I can see that the seat pan would give the bracket some additional support. Mine does flex back slightly then stop.

On their website the only single seat Harley they show it installed on it the Softail Delux, and that seat has a metal bar around it that the Grasshopper is supported by.

I was hesitant to order at first because of all the flexing feedback but as mentioned earlier in the thread, when I heard they changed the type of steel they use I figured I'd give them a try. We'll see in the spring, no pun intended.

I might be expecting to much. I had a Mustang wide vintage solo with a built in backrest, loved it. Wanted to put the other Mustang solo I had so I bought this one. Very disappointed, it bends with the slightest amount of pressure.

How long have you had it? The pic of the Deluxe solo seat with the wrap around rail looks solid, but it would suck if you had to buy that extra piece just to stop the backrest from flexing.

I had one and yes I liked it. Over time it did flex a little more and more. I was then gifted a HD back rest. No complaints with the new one.

Have 50k miles on mine and it is still solid as a rock. No flexing.
