I've bought some little blue blinkie tirefly lights for my stem caps. I'm up for anything to increase visibilty, especially with the no-driving MFs we have around here.
Can't speak for other states, but MI only allows yellow & red, and other than directional signals, can't blink, and other than license plate illumination, no white light to rear (as in broken tail light lense). Occilating blue are police only, and red lights are reserved for police & fire. The little "off color" lights became popular on different parts of cars over the years, I think from some movie. They can get you a ticket here if they are the wrong color lights.
only thing that might be an issue is the color. I believe here in Tejas ya cant use blue or red lights ( I know there are red lights on every vehicle) just heard that in relation to the neon lights the kids run under their cars. Call the PD I'm sure they'd tell ya. I seriously doubt if theres an issue with the lights just maybe the color.
If you read all the posts so far, one thing should be very clear. No one has ANY idea! LOL. No really, it varies state to state, here in PA they're illegal. Period. Some states allow them in certain colors. You'll just have to look it up. Most states ave their vehicle laws online and easily accessible.
Can't vouch for the legality of them here in Texas but LEO never said anything to me about mine. Have a blue truck so got blue tireflys for it, looked neat, while they lasted, one or two broke, one or two some punk kid (probaby) decided they needed worse than I did. Now paint is fading and clear coat is stariting to peel on the hood no reason to draw attention to a ugly truck lol so never replaced them
There was an item in a national bike mag over here which said that when travelling at speed the weight of the tyrefly put centrifugal force on the vavle stem, forcing the vavle flat to the wheel and in some cases causing deflation of the tyre.
I dont know if this is b*** or not, or at what speed the valves are affected, but it was enough for me to take mine off. I try to avoid flat tyres as much as possible.
