Lost kickstand off a Sporty once. Stopped to put on rain gear and found the jiffy stand gone. Had to get gas on the way home, then sat in the garage until wife came out so I could get the wheel chock around. Replaced the jiffy stand, bolt, and spring and never had a problem again. Locktite is my friend.
Lost the shifter peg on the previous bike in the twisties in ARK . Went to downshift and got nothing but air!
Limped to the side of the road and walked back a block to find the peg and bolt in the road.
Loctite and was on my way.
Pinch bolt on shifter loosened up and allowed shaft to walk out. Never lost the shaft & pegs. or linkage. Just couldn't shift with my foot. Happened right after filling up on a day ride so I was lucky in that I could reach down and shift the linkage with my hand. Of course it happened on a Sunday evening. Kept the shifter pegs from falling out with my foot holding it in.
I rented a Road King and the left lock lever came off but fortunately wedged between bag and rail. Lets put it this way, that rental was not a shining example of what to expect when buying a bike.
