Well my friend's scope didn't work, thought he could fix it but he can't, I probably could have found another one but I wanted to try turning it over in high gear so I pulled the plugs and it was very easy by turning the rear tire. Cylinder walls looked clean and shiny from what I could see through the spark plug holes. New gas fresh oil and she fired on about the third revolution. Sounds like a new bike.
Just ride it. A 97 Heritage Softail is not exactly a high demand collectors item that would command a holy grail price. You could probably get $4,500 on a private sale or maybe $3,500/$4000 on a trade for something newer because of the low mileage.

Took it out for a cruise runs, handles fine. The no windshield thing sure is hard on the arms I guess it has a lot to do with my age. Anyway thanks guys for all the help and advise.

Hi all new guy here with a real dilemma I joined on here for for a couple reasons one of which is I'm looking for a little help, I bought a 1997 Heritage softtail beautiful bike problem is it only has 7 miles on it yes just seven miles. Story goes this guy bought the bike new in late 96 and was on his way to Alaska through British Columbia and had problems with his pick up so he sold the bike to pay for repairs, I have proper papers and customs documents so it wasn't stolen. The problem is do I ride it or is there someone out there that would like to have it because of it being newish?
Randy
I would ride it. 7 miles or 70000 miles its still a 97 Heritage. The low mileage doesnt make it more valuable or collectible. Although I bet its in pristine condition. Post a pic.

Really?? This whole tread is about my bike? All you need to do is scroll up. And to add to my confusion I've had a lot of guys say its not worth much. With very little talking around town about it I'm at $10 k Canadian thats around $8k USD. I think I'm going to let it go I'm not sure if the bags and windshield are missing or never came from factory but that will add to the price of things I need. I've run it down the hi way seams great at 60 mph but I think I've lost my mojo I'm not the careless youngster I once was. Was't paying attention and a semi passed me on a two lane road I found myself trying hard to stay out of the ditch. I think if I was running down the coke all the time it would make things a lot easier . Anyway have a great day and stay safe everyone.

Maybe it's not you, but those 25-year old tires that have lost their mojo! I wouldn't be racking up many miles on them.

Im not sure how to reply to your response. Are you upset at what I said? I was only saying no matter the mileage its not a highly collectible or valuable bike.
Yeah with that few miles your going to get top dollar but in my opinion top dollar is somewhere around $7000-$8000 bucks. And thats being generous. Theres a lot of money that needs to be spent to get the bike road worthy.
If I were looking to buy it I would be offering you about $7k.

Bubba Zenetti I owe you a huge apology, my morning was a total waste of time it started out not bad then I'm putting up with this knuckle dragger on facebook asking me all these questions that are in the ad then another one starts in all this over a free deep freeze I was giving away for free! I opened my mail and the one at the top of the list was from this forum, I clicked on it and you asked to post some pics lol I can laugh at it now but I hope I never ruined your day! I have a buddy that follows the prices very close and he was amazed I was offered $10k, a guy and his buddy (who wanted it) were reacting to the bike with ear to ear grins today at how new looking it was, made a quick trip around the block and layed $10k down on the counter so it's gone. I'm already feeling sellers remorse what can I say. I have a move to make in a couple weeks, after I get settled in the new place maybe I will get another one. At least now I can say I bought a brand new 25 year old bike!
