It's always a positive thing when you live to tell your story....
I am trying to understand what launched your tire off the pavement and off to one side in one motion..... What tire came off the ground, front or rear? (you commented the "right" tire ???)..... Usually when I read crash stories that the riderdidn't know what happened, 90% of the timeit's because the rider jammed too much front brake, or locked up the rear brake.
If you were going over a bridge, I bet your slidingfootpeg and/orframe caught an "expansion joint" and spun around. I bet if you go back to the spot you went down, you might get some answers by just looking at the bridge.....
Bottom line, glad you lived to tell your story, i'm sure your family feels the same way...
Sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm glad your around and able to tell us about it. Sounds like you did everything you could do to control an uncontrollable situation. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
Glad you're OK. Sounds like it could have been much worse. Without knowing the details, I won't try to analyze what happened. One thing that we do teach in the MSF class is that if you lock the rear brake and the rear tire skids, you should try to keep the brake applied and ride the skid out. If the rear end of the bike gets out of alignment with the front during a skid and you release the rear brake, the rear tire will grab (because the rear wheel can now roll instead of skid). This will often result in a high side crash (you get thrown off in front of the bike). Again, I'm not trying to speculate on exactly what happened in your case. I just thought this would be worth mentioning for the benefit of anyone who ever has (or will) get into a rear wheel skid. Hope you are well and back on the road soon.
glad you are o.k. i believe there are people who deliberately dispose of hazardous substances by letting them drain out behind them while driving down a roadway. it's easier for these azzholes to dispose of the problem this way instead of a legal disposal. they usually do it at night. if i ever catch one i'll see how they like drinking about a quart full.

I don't understand why you and your bike faired as well as you both did.

Say what you want, but everytime I go out for a ride I get down on a knee and ask God to keep me safe.
I didn't do that today.
Even if you forgot to invite God along, sure sounds ta me like He invited Himeself. (I notice He tends to do that often)
Take it easy, and heal up, glad you will be OK!

And since yesterday was my first day of work at my new job I HAD to go into work.
SO I showed up with my doctors note and gave it personnel. She looked at it, looked at me and then she got up and called one of the Asst. Managers inside. Then she pointed at me and told the Asst Manager: "Mike, this is a new worker, his name is Sgtar15. He had a motorcycle accident yesterday , has a broken rib with bunps and bruises...and he STILL came into work!"
So needless to say, I scored some serious points today.
