What do I do?........decisions, decisions!
A couple weeks ago, I was at my dealership getting my 10K service done. I checked in at the service dept. & then walked into the showroom to kill some time. Wouldn't you know it, there it was........a red '04 Road King Custom with the 95" engine mod & thousands of $$$ in chrome & only 8800 miles on it. The price was $14,995 for this consignment bike that belongs to a friend of the sales manager. I resisted the temptation for two reasons, financial & I wasn't crazy about the red.
Yesterday, the sales manager/part owner called me up to tell me that he found out that the owner of the bike has the original paint set for the bike which is "Pacific Blue" and it will go with the bike. He also told me that the bike's owner has now dropped the price to $13,995. I think that's a pretty good price.
I don't really want to trade in my Street Bob, but I'd love to get that Road King. I sure wish I could figure out a way to have both!
Identify the things taking up your monthly budget that you enjoy LESS than you would enjoy the 2nd bike. Figure a way to give those things up (make sure you stick to it) and BINGO, you've got the money for the RK now! --don't forget to include insurance for the RK.
I know, it's easier said than done. But, if you want the 2nd bike and you're not rolling in money...sacrifice. Sometimes you'll find there are things you're doing now that you don't wanna sacrifice for a 2nd bike. That's ok too. It'll put your heart/head back in focus so that you don't buy a 2nd bike and regret it later. If the bike's not worth giving those things up to you, don't buy it. You'll wind up with buyer's remorse or (if you don't give those things up at all) you'll wind up broke/bankrupt.
Good luck. Remember, at least you've already got ONE awesome scoot (I like those street bobs).
Take a look at your finances.

That's all good advise!
Thinking along those lines, one of the things I am considering is selling my one year old truck that just hit the 7000 mile mark. I don't drive it enough to justify the $525 a month payment. Maybe I'll just get an older one & use the money to get the Road King, if it's still available by then.

Living in Binghamton, you know that the winters can be long, leaving you with a shortened riding season to begin with. Most people I know around here (I'm in NY also) that have 2 bikes never really ride both of them, so one just tends to sit and then get sold. I'd say if you like the RK, trade in the Bob. The RK is more versatile and you'll be able to ride it longer into the fall/winter if the cold bothers you.

I just made it work, got the price down and scored on lot's of chrome and other stuff he threw in. You think about it for a while, and see what comes up, if it's supposed to be, it's going to happen, trust me.
