Lot of better options that are safer then this. Plastic razor blades and a heat gun will get 99% of it off every time. Goo Gone or equivalent for the rest.
with regards to addressing stuff like this, my first thought is.....don't screw it up more by trying to fix it....do no harm
I'd try the least aggressive method first and that is to get the decal to lift off rather than grind it off....if you have to pulverize it and grind it off, then so be it, but before I did that, i'd take some time to slowly warm up the surface with a heat gun and then test a spot to see how practical it would be to get it off with a plastic razor, like Eagle suggested
my bike has quite a few decals on it, but they are all clear coated.....no removal options for me
That's a common tool in a body shop. I've never seen one hurt paint, and I've used them a lot. Even if it does mark the paint,[like if you push the edge too roughly against the paint] polish will fix it easily.
