I live in the remote north of Canada. We trailer out on sh*t roads every year. Every thread I see on trailering seems to be full of how cheaply it can be done and “never had a problem…”
We use Wheel Docks and tie to them with looped ratchet straps over fender lugs on lower legs. No hooks, no suspension loading. Not interested in any cheaper methods. Other means may work, but we’ve done this without fail for years. BTW; it’s how many new bikes are shipped from factory overseas…but what do they know

These were the straps I bought. I think they went up in price, but they really heavy duty. Watch the video. I strapped it like that multiple times and the bike never moves a millimeter. Ever. My cousin goes back and forth to NH with his using this method and the bikes never move.

I just bought these to replace the cheap older straps in my toyhauler. After watching the video, I'll strap my bike down from the frame and crash bars from now on.

I have the same straps. They are "heavy duty"

I use a Biker Bar so no worries about compression.

that's not a good idea. yes, it will keep your alarm from going off, but, every time that you hit a bump or the bike is jostled, it will send out a polling signal looking for the fob. do that enough times and it will kill your battery. putting it in transport mode is stupid simple and prevents a whole lot of issues.

and please, for the love of pete, make sure you know your security pin before you start this trip.

I use a Condor and Shock Straps. I have found the shock straps to be the best strap I have found. They keep constant tension on the strap and don't allow the ratchet strap to become slack. Fred the owner is a great guy to deal with.

This is a link for the shock straps and shows how they work. This is not the same link that Fred had just a few months ago when I last talked to him but it is the same straps. Don't know if he retired or sold the company or what. Prices are the same.

i was going to mention them, as I bought two sets for my enclosed trailer I ordered (which I will finally be picking up tomorrow). I used one on my neighbor’s trailer when we went to pick up my CVO (so we could drive through the night and make the trip from Texas in 24 hours).

it worked flawlessly, and I look forward to not having to use straps again.
