$100.00 per if I build something at home in my garage.
Man, it seems like not too long ago, 100 bucks an hour seemed excessive. Now seeing where most places are charging well above that, 100 an hour seems like a damn bargain!
My local, here in SoCal, just bumped their rates to 125 an hour.. There are many Harley dealers in SoCal and the most expensive is currently 160 an hour.
Went to the shop for an estimate to install a WHIM on my 2019 Triglide.
WHIM = $300
Labor 2hrs =$230
They have to remove the outer fairing, plug the whim in, reinstall the outer fairing and flash the system. 2 hours???
I told the owner that if his tech can't remove and replace the fairing under 15 minutes, he should fire him!
If the flat rate books for Harley are anything like the automotive flat rate books, the hours they allow for various jobs sometimes dont make any sense. Some jobs quote hours that even the most talented tech in the world could never accomplish, while other jobs quote hours that even the biggest idiot could get done.
Its too bad the rate the employee is paid hasnt increased in the same rate as the labor rate....because the skill sure hasnt...I wouldnt let any mechanics at my local dealership change my light bulb....
Off topic a little, but my sister had to call an ac repair tech during a recent heat wave. I was surprised the company labor rate was 79dollars (very reasonable) an hour with no extra service charge, The tech changed the capacitor, total bill just under 200 hundred dollars.
