Its too bad the rate the employee is paid hasnt increased in the same rate as the labor rate....because the skill sure hasnt...I wouldnt let any mechanics at my local dealership change my light bulb....
Sorry to hear that. I know several of the techs, and my son worked at our local dealership in parts and service. I do the majority of my own work, but did have an issue last year only a couple of miles from the dealership, 30 miles from my house. Limped in and told the service Mgr. what was up. He said it would be almost an hour to get to it. Bottom line he wasn't going to let the oil change guy or the tire changer touch my bike, Top tech got on it, rear axle was screwed and they didn't have one. He had a newer take off I bought from him for $20. $20 + 1/2/hr labor and later I bought the tech lunch.
If your going to get work done, understand who you're dealing with and remember, while the rate may be high the Techs and others aren't getting that much. YES I have an inside track, however a little respect and patience goes a long way.
