I still use my Alpinestar boots and gloves and my Joe Rocket jacket and Helmet with the Harley that I used with the my big sport bikes.
Is that a faux pas?
Nope, just reminiscing over all the money I have wasted on gear over these many years Sold or gave all that stuff away when the last Hayabusa got traded for a Harley. I might have one Alpinestar jacket left.
I just have some very basic, subtle HD jackets and Wolverine boots, now.
While not a "shoe" and more of a "boot", these (HD Lansfield) are the lightest, most comfortable MC boots I've tried. They have some mesh paneling so they breath great (not waterproof). Side zip for easy on/off, and the inner sole has some gel in it, while the sole has a little flexibility to it. LOVE these boots. IMHO, they split the difference between a "boot" and "shoe" well.
One thing I have to have on my bike footwear is good grip. I've tried Oxtars/TCX, Spidi and now these HD's. The Oxtars/TCX books are great, except the sole wears quickly and depth of the tread on the sole is very shallow. I greatly prefer deeper treads and more aggressive grip profile. The deeper treads have prevented my foot kicking out in sand/gravel when coming to a stop, while I've had foot slippage with the more Euro style of sole tread.
