I also think I will remove the crotch cooler and the mid frame deflectors. I’m also going to contact Fuel Moto and see if they have another map for the power vision, even though it runs good the way it is. I still may install an oil cooler since we live in the west Texas desert and most of the summer it gets well over 100*.

Im also going to get an infrared thermometer to see exactly where the heat is coming from, but I still suspect it’s from the rear head pipe.
DK Customs says to remove the left side crotch cooler so the air can circulate and not get trapped.

Your best bet would be to talk with someone who deals with the Texas heat and what they do to help their customers with it. We can all give opinions, but being there and dealing with it day in and day out, gives one a much better idea of what really works. An Oil cooler is NOT going to solve your problem, its going to help the engine live a longer life and reduce the oil temperature when the bike is moving down the road. The hottest item is the exhaust and that runs about 900 - 1100 degrees in temperature when the bike is under power. Now a lot of that heat travels through the exhaust and out the rear of the pipe but rest assured it's still there. If she really want to keep it then I would get the bags she wants and then look at exhaust systems that will fit with the bags. Looking very closely at how the rear cylinder pipe is routed and what can be done to keep it away from her crotch and leg. Try contacting service shops in your area of Texas as they would be a much better source of information. One you might try would be GMR in Ft. Worth, TX 817-741-2000

Like I said in my last post, I think a lot of the felt heat on her leg is because of the location of the rear head pipe and also because of the cats. I’m trying to get her to get either big shot staggered (which I have on my Heritage that I really like) or big shot longs. Both have the rear head pipe routed different than the stock pipes.

I would also like to get it tuned but since the EPA issues my local dealer will only tune bikes with screamin eagle components and they have the only dyno in the area.

Get a good indy. Dealers basicly suck. Sure there are a few but I wouldn't let a dealer wash my bike let alone tune it.

Maybe you should let her ride yours and then if she feels the amount of heat lose, she will let you get an exhaust like yours without the fight on keeping what she has. GMR is a full dyno tune facility as well so they would do the tuning for you as well

Gerald Martin and DK Custom has the right idea, remove the left side heat deflector, the R/H side will scoop air in and push it out the L/H. DK Custom also has a kit to raise the gas tank allowing more air over the top of the engine.

where exactly is she feeling the heat? remember, in addition to the hot exhaust, you've got an extremely hot oil bag right under your *** and right up against your thighs...

Thanks for the info. I’m going to try it and see if that helps. Also, I’m going to change out the exhaust to either big shot longs or staggereds. They will reroute the rear head pipe and eliminate the cats. Hopefully that will cure the heat issue once and for all.

I suggest you research those exhaust before buying them. Or better yet, talk to the shop / tuner you plan to use about which exhaust will help with the heat and can be easily tuned to provide performance. The bis shots can be challenging to tune which may not help in your quest to tame the heat a little.

Oil cooler is always a good idea. I’d recommend a ceramic coated 2-1 exhaust. RB Racing Black Hole is a good choice.
