I kind of hoped that since you're not exactly a n00b, but since you weren't clear I wanted to clarify. There's an awful lot of people here who think that just richening the mixture with an XIED or FuelPac is all they need to do.

My UltraCool oil cooler lowers my oil temp by around 20 degrees.
I’m not sure it makes that much of a difference in rider comfort but it probably does somewhat.

My Love Jugs head fans lowers the head temp some but it makes rider comfort worse.
That hot air has to go somewhere and for my setup it is onto my right thigh and up between the tank and my seat into my crotch.
I wouldn’t buy these unless you do a lot of stop and go riding and experience an engine cylinder shutdown often.

I don’t understand how your Wife is getting blistered by the rear cylinder especially with Capt. Itch’s crotch cooler.
Are you sure it’s not the upper exhaust pipe?

Perhaps going to a cross-over dual exhaust setup without cats would help.
I don’t know much about this setup however from the picture below I think it looks nice and gets the upper exhaust pipe down to the lower left and off the right thigh.

Along with the fuel tuner, long pants, and of course Capt. Itch’s crotch cooler it should make riding a bit more enjoyable.
I’m not sure however there’s anyway to make riding an air cooled motorcycle comfortable in the West Texas summer heat.

Keep us updated as what you end of doing to make the little Lady a more happier rider.

If you could send a close up picture of your wife while she is riding her bike it might help to solve the problem. My fatboy (carbed) throws of hardly any heat to me but a friend of mine who is fairly short tried my bike out and burnt her thigh. Turned out because she was short she had to sit forward on the sear and her thigh touched the rear cylinder burning her. Just a thought

One thing you might do is get her to look at where her burn was. Then transfer that on to a pair of pants with tape marking the spot where the burn was. Have her come sit on the bike with the pants on and see whats closest to the tape on her pants. This will let you see where the hottest spot is and then see what you can do with it. Since it's a Softail, you have the double of both the rear exhaust and the Oil tank to deal with. It could be you will need to do a combination of things based on how she fits to the bike. If it's near the Oil tank a change in seating position maybe needed to get her thigh further away as moving the tank isn't an easy deal but can be done if you have too.

Default Hot a rear head pipe outlet.

What worked good for me on my FatBoyLo before I modified the tune was to create a change in airflow to the rear cylinder. Go in my profile pictures and view the scoop I created by turning the horn cowbell to face forward and deflect air in to the front of rear cylinder cooling fins. This air then sweeps back along the rear cylinder right side cooling fins and takes away a lot of the heat from the rear head pipe. Obviously not much good when stop and go or slow going but at reasonable speed it works great. You gut out the horn and relocate it elsewhere. Sportster horn mounted up under the steering head is what I did. The Wards fans I use for slow going or pulling off to fuel up. Best of luck

Does the bike have fangs installed below the windshield, for wind buffeting. I installed them on my heritage to decrease wind buffeting on the highway, and they did work well. They increased engine temp by 20-30 degrees in summer time, I took them off.

Weird. I had them on my Fatboy and measured them at interstate speed with the gauges on my Power Vision. The difference in engine temperature was almost negligible, no more than 2-3 degrees.

I just recently put them on my M8 Heritage. I installed them the same way I had them on my Fatboy, but on this Heritage they bumped into the crash bar when I turned the wheel sharply. I turned them around so they would fit better. Initial impression is they don't work nearly as well as they did on the Fatboy. Further testing required.

My experience is similar to “Weird”.
I have not only the fangs but also leather lowers on my Heritage 96ci and the temp increase seems negligible.

Default Engine heat with fangs.

I persevered and found ways to aid cooling. Another trick is to mount an air deflector to the underside on the nacelle to turn highway air down toward the front exhaust port. Aids cooling greatly and also keeps a lot of air from curling up over the front of the tank. Deflector is inner width of fork covers, curved to move air stream down toward exhaust port. Three stainless button head bolts in to nacelle. Hardly noticeable. You can also buy the rounded deflector from Harley parts for bolting under the steering head. But I've never tried one of those. I have no worries about heat in my engine except in slow, stop and go and stand still. My Wards fans help in these cases but are not a cure all. Pulling off and clicking off and waiting are the cure for these instances.

I can’t imagine enough heat to cause a blister unless she is actually touching the pipe. I have to ask, what kind of pants is she wearing. Thick jeans or thin slacks. .
my wife used to say that her bike seemed to run hotter than mine. i rode her bike and found it was the same as mine. turned out, she felt it more than i did because i was wearing looser fitting jeans. she tried a looser pair and found that she didn't feel as much heat.
