Hold your gas cap in your right hand while holding gas nozzle in left hand when fueling bike. That way you won't leave your cap on gas pump.
OK, sorry to be a wise guy or open a serious can of worms. I've been riding a long, long time now, and I've NEVER left my gas cap on the pump and ridden away. HTF do people do this? Is it even real? Is it a long term joke on the forum that I'm just too dense to understand? If someone tells me, would they then have to kill me?

It happens, happened to a friend back in the '70's. I set mine on my footboard. If I forget to put it back, I'll kick it off. Haven't kicked it yet.
