While on a hunting trip to a new farm I now hunt. The farmer and I got to talking about bikes and he shows me this. He bought it quite some time ago, rode it a few times then parked it. He says he starts it up every now and then but it never leaves the barn.
What does he have here?

I'm gonna guess it's an old kind of Softail Classic Shovelhead. I don't know what the EVO Softail Classic was called in the Shovelhead days. The EVO had the model designated by FXSTC.
I agree with either a FX Super Glide or an FL with the Sportster front end...(which is essentially a FX Super Glide) but I am thinking the latter because it has the big FL tank and dash...although the dash looks to be a crappy fit or an aftermarket? either way those aren't Super Glide tanks In thinking. keep in mind I'm really not an expert, I was 8 years old in 77 these are just my guesses.

Didn't you know? If it isn't a bagger it's a Softail. The fact those bikes didn't exist prior to 1990 is of no bearing in that opinion. Oh, and only real men ride Sportsters. Mark Winchester, gone but not forgotten.
As far as the barn find, It's cool as hell, but I wouldn't part with much money to have it. "No low-ballers, I know what I got! And besides, I'm gonna fix it up someday." - The farmer
