Not so many miles as some but the bike is a year old. Have had a $2 fix to the button on the odometer on the bike. Otherwise just the maintenances ad at 7500 miles I don't even need tires yet...go figure.
When it comes to Harley bags though I have had about $1500 in warrenteed replacements because of poor craftsmenship. (I have had seriously bad luck with thier bags and tour pak)
The only bad thing about the Twin Cam 88 is those dam tensioner shoes. There are 4 of them and you can see one ok - however, the ones you don't see are the ones that wear out. Usually you'll get about 25K out of them before they need replacing.
As far as replacement - DON'T. Replace the shoes with gear drive cams. Less friction, less moving parts, more horsepower for free.
One of the bad things that you don't think about is this: When those plastic shoes wear - the little bits flow in the oil - if they are small enough to pass though the oil pump screen, they will go through the oil pump and through the motor - possible big problems then!
Other than that little thing - those Twin Cam 88's will run for a very long time.
Over 22000 miles on her now, and the only thing that has gone bad was the starter clutch which caused the pinion gear to trash itself and the clutch basket ring gear. All replaced under the extended warrantee.
I put 45K miles on my '03, NEVER had a problem with it. The guy I sold it to has put another 10K on it without any problems, still running like a champ!
