BTW if you are headed to the Weirs from say Laconia HD, and you are waiting in traffic on the hill going down to the Lobster Pound/Drive In, and your bike is overheating and your thighs are burning, do not shut the bike off and coast it down the hill.... the local cops and all their friends LOVE to ticket people for doing that.
I'm curious, what is the infraction they write you up for? Aren't there cars that actually turn-off when waiting at a light?

This is why--- not that I agree with it
Why is coasting downhill illegal?
The reason for the law is that coasting down a hill is unsafe as it prevents a motorist from making a sudden movement to avoid a hazard or emergency. Coasting also restricts one from braking. Note that drivers often get cited for breaking this law along with other traffic offenses, including: DUI, and.

I have been shutting my bike off coming down that hill for over 20 years, never even had a conversation with a cop about it. And they are everywhere coming down to the bridge. Also coming the other way down to the bridge and down into Meredith towards the dealership.
Laconia 2010 .... she parked near me with a M&M themed bike
I think I know who built that bike, used to be a shop in Middletown, Pa. called Craig's Customs or something like that. Guy is no longer in business though.

Sorry, but I am calling this one a myth.
I've shut my Heritage Springer off many times coasting down the hill also[ mostly because it hates shifting into neutral while running] but call it what you want, my friend [now deceased] got a ticket for doing it in the mid 90s, so I know it happens, just not as often as people say----I also know there is a noise ordinance [ no louder than 106 dc] but I've never seen any one pulled over or get a ticket for it yet we hear about it all the time [ Americade is famous for loud pipe ticketing]---the below link may help with any confusion
Sorry about your friend, but the 90's was a long time ago in the bad old days of Laconia. Not the really bad days from the 60's, but you know what I mean. When the Staties get all fired up, I have seen foot patrol pull over bikes on the bridge. I have heard of guys getting pulled over at night for not wearing glasses. I have seen a dozen police dogs lined up on the bridge due to the potential for things to happen.
But I have never heard of anyone being hassled for turning their bike off in traffic. We must agree to disagree.
OP, just go and have fun. Be stupid and meet a State Trooper. Ride like an adult and have a good time.

Absolutely , I have no reason to change your opinion on the matter, that said I'll be there most of the day Thursday--I'll buy you a beer at your favorite spot ---I will be at Bentleys on Saturday , they have a fun Pin-Up Girl Bike show, one year they were going to use my Springer but one of Bentleys Florida friends had his bike used for it instead, Believe it might have been 2014 or 2015, always a fun time there
