I have a few riding jackets, and a few "goin to town" leather jackets. They make riding jackets for a reason...riding. Whenever I see some guy walking around wearing a motorcycle jacket I look to see where he parked his motorcycle! And something that expensive should serve it's purpose right off the get go. And you had it tailored on top of that? I know of a couple biker leather stores that will custom make a tailored "riding" jacket for less than what I'm seeing those Schotts go for. Maybe the whole problem is it's a "Cafe Style Racer" and your in a cruising position. Mic drop....

Ok been reading this thread .... Obviously if the length of the jacket is too long then it will push up from your thighs (Dolly Pardon effect).. and yes a 2 way zipper will help.
But... the design of jacket is most likely a problem as well. Stand in front of the mirror with jacket on and raise your arms to where your bars will be. I bet the whole jacket rises up. The only thing that will mitigate this is the football design in the armpit area. Most mfr don't use footballs...langlitz does but expensive.

This one does have football design in the arm pits.
I will see how it is with the double zipper. I do realize that I am trying to make a jacket that is most likely better for wearing than riding do two things. Its not that bad though and with few adjustments and breaking it in, I think it will be fine.
I suppose here is as good a place for a little trivia:
In 1928, Schott released what is now universally known as the motorcycle jacket. The diagonal zipper was purely meant for function over form. The angle of the closure worked to block the wind and prevented the jacket from bunching up when the rider mounted his bike. He gave his creation the Perfecto label, and the rest is history.
That's good to hear. It gives me some hope. The reason why I went with those jackets (641 model) is because they look good when not riding. I wanted something like that and not strictly a riding jacket. I realize that they are different cuts, but 641 is kind of cut like a motorcycle jacket.
My wife thinks I am obsessed with this because I keep putting the jacket on and taking it off...What I noticed is, when I bring my arms horizontal, the whole collar on the back goes up. It's like the whole back is riding up as soon as I put my arms in that position. It doesn't feel tight when I wear it, it feels like it fits me just right.
First world problems....
steerhide (horsehide as well), is just going to take time to break in, but once it does they are beautiful. you'll have to wear it non-stop, and i wouldn't put any conditioner on it at this point. just let it break in naturally
Those buckles you had removed? Now you know what they were for.
Obviously, the cow that jacket was made from never rode a motorcycle.
Yeah, that's what the lady at Schott told me . I just hate the look of those buckles.
It's all good! two way zipper is getting installed. Hope that helps. I been wearing this damn thing everywhere. My wife thinks I have some serious issues. I wear it walking on the treadmill, I sit on it on the couch, I wear it working at my desk...At the end, I think I am way overthinking this.

i mean, i was going to suggest sleeping in it, but she wouldn't have any doubts then
