Okay, I had my eyes opened to a new level of "bling" today... A guy who I met through a mutual friend shows up on his 2007 Screamin' Eagle EG (one of the red ones with yellowish ghosting outlines -- 1 of 100 made that year) with about every imaginable option added to the bike. He bought it about a year ago, but it remains merely "garage candy," as it only has 370 miles on it!!! Total price tag after all the dealer-installations of "bling" and after-market stuff: $62K!!!
My '05 Ultra was sitting next to his... I've put some stuff on mine, but not gone crazy... And for the life of me, I couldn't come any where close to justifying the +/- $34K more for his ride...
When he told me "it has never seen one drop of rain," I had to bite my tongue before saying "or a bug, or a curvy road, or 4000 rpm, or [you fill in the blank...]
Those bikes and owners exist for a reason. When you get in the "maybe I'm spending too much on my bike, or spent too much on my bike etc.(guilt), you can point your finger to him and say, no, I'm OK that is what's bad.
I don't know because what the hell it is his $ & he is gettin a lot of joy outa ownin the bike. I say the best of luck to the guy!
Ifeel exactly the same way.....**** I wish I had the money to buy every little thing that caught my eye. As it is I have two bikes, a car and atrucknow and I am always looking for more and more.
I am happy for the guy, and I hope to hell that he never even puts 1K miles on it.....because I know in a year or so when he is tired of looking at it, I will be there with a fist full of cash and my pick up truck to haul it home in.....and I bet dollars to donuts that I can get it out of his garage and into mine for less than 50% of what he paid new!
Sorry, sounds like sour grapes to me. He wanted it and had the money to get it andnow he's doing what he wants with it., not a waist to him and it is his to do with what he wants.
