Default Wind Noise

So maybe it's getting older and less tolerant(cranky) but - I ride both with and without a helmet (the purpose of this thread is to not dive into the helmet vs no helmet debate) but really love riding the backroads without a helmet. However - this season (In Wisco it just turned into riding season lol) I have noticed without a helmet the wind noise is bugging the S@*& out of me. So - looking to see what you all have done to cut down the noise (did about a hundred miles yesterday on the trike and I still have a little ringing in my ears). I typically ride with a ball cap but am thinking about a do-rag but open to suggestions...thanks in advance for the shared wisdom!

Get yourself some custom fit ear plugs.

ive got a set for shooting, and they’re great. Much more comfortable and easier to put in that disposables.

Ear plugs. Wind noise is what they are for. I never ride without them.

Ear plugs, even with a helmet usually, particularly if I'll be running highway and Interstate speeds.

What speeds are you driving?

You probably already know this, but hearing damage is cumulative and you can't get it back. Freeway wind on a bike is LOUD. Since Helmets are not a option (although a good 3/4 helmet would help) then shooting ear protection would be the way to go. They even make custom ones where you take a mold of your ear and they are custom fit for you. You might need something like a beanie to hold them in at speed though.

Thanks for the reply - pretty much keep to the backroads so rarely above 70 (stay off the superslabs these days)...

Anything above barely moving creates a significant amount of wind noise. In my mind, there is no riding scenario where wearing ear protection is optional.

Pretty much the reason I transitioned to a full face helmet. Must be an age thing.

There's a LOT less noise behind the windshield on my bagger, as opposed to my Shovel with no windshield.
We have boxes full of ear plugs at work...always a pair ready in the vest pocket.
