Those old 3/4 helmets are reversible. When the face shield gets too scratched up to see through you just unbuckle the strap and turn the helmet around. That puts the scratches all behind you.

I left one like that on the mile-marker post when I was leaving Nebraska (helmet state) for Colorado in 1993. I didn't need it after that.

All you curmudgeons telling the man to get a new helmet. He didn't ask for your opinion about keeping it or not.

You might consider a Bell replacement bubble visor or a universal replacement that snaps on.
