Default Surdyke Finally Caves to HD Territory Directive

I received this email yesterday noting that Surdyke is finally caving to the HD directive that dealers cannot sell genuine parts/clothes outside of their territory.
Dear Surdyke.com customers

We regret to inform you that in order to comply with Harley-Davidson's retail sales policy, we can no longer ship Genuine Harley-Davidson Parts & Accessories or Genuine MotorClothes outside of our assigned dealer territories. Many of you have been our on-line customers for over 20 years and we know how much this will not only affect us, but you the consumer too.

Know that we are not going anywhere and we will still be offering Licensed Harley-Davidson clothing, boots, & décor, plus CFMOTO parts & accessories to everyone across the country. We will be expanding our offerings in new directions to continue to serve your needs.

For our military men & women stationed over seas we can still sell and ship you Genuine Harley-Davidson Parts & Accessories using an APO or FPO address.

When you checkout our website will inform you if an item in your cart is restricted and unable to be sold and shipped to you. We hope this will improve your shopping experience.

If you have ordered parts & accessories from us and have not received them yet do not worry; we will still fulfill those orders and we will ship them out to you as soon as they come in.

We thank you for making us the #1 site for Harley-Davidson parts & accessories online and we look forward to doing business with you again the future.

Yours

Tim Surdyke

@Redd Jedd Help me to understand - they "caved" to an agreement they signed?

The title makes it sound like you are making Surdyke out to be some sort of bad guy. They were supposed to "cave" like 8 or 9 months ago when HD released the new policy.

I think there should be exceptions to new old stock. Thanks to Monkey Boy he found a part for me that were only 2 listed in the U. S. Purchased from Surdycke in the past and were cheaper by far, maybe a little slow but it was a mod I was doing over the winter.

True, but for the longest time HD was not enforcing this part of the agreement. "Caved" means they held out this long, giving buyers an alternate option than having to go to a local dealer and pay price-fixed prices. Also. I probably have 8 or 9 dealers within a 50 mile radius to choose from while, others may not have any in a similar radius where they live. If someone who can figure out how to sell the same or discontinued parts at a discount via a 21st century method is forced to stop doing so, we all lose out. With the amount of bikes that were discontinued in the past 10 to 20 years, people bought and like those bikes now have limited options where they cab genuine HD parts.

Not my intended meaning. "Cave" is to mean that online dealers like Surdyke, Goldstar, Barnett, etc. held out selling as long or what they could have before relenting to the corporate policy.
