Stuff like this always goes both ways. When someone trades in a bike, they're insulted if they are asked for proof of maintenance. But when that same person goes to buy a bike, they want all that documentation before they'll even consider the purchase. Classic "have your cake and eat it too."

I keep very detailed records in a spreadsheet. The guy who bought my BMW R1200RT a couple of years was amazed.

I think they have contests to see who can come up with the best BS to tell potential buyers. Maybe they give out awards for it.
