Was kicking the tires at my dealer thinking of trading in for a new model. When asked who performed the 1K,5K and 10K service I told them that I did. They stated they would have to re perform those services again to have a record to provide any potential new buyer. This effected the trade in offer as it was additional cost to them. F--K HD. I'll die with this bike and aftermarket parts from now on.

LOL - how do un-pregnant the 1K, 5K 10K services?
Do they do the 1K, ride the bike, do the 5K, etc. Never heard that one before
Did they say they had a time machine? How in the hell do you go back and do services for mileage that’s already past? Not only that, if they’re going to document those services for a future buyer, they’ll be falsifying service invoices. Dipshits!
If a sales person told you that there's no shortage of ill informed and let be nice less intelligent staff. When confronted with stories like that I suggest go higher to the sales manager, store manger, GM owner of available. If they back that up then leave you don't want do business there.
I'll give them credit...that's on of the best BS excuses I've ever heard of a dealer giving. I mean I know they usually want to give as low as possible for a trade but this is ridiculous.
Yup. Dealers near me wanted to give me less for trade bc they might have to do things like change tires, oil change etc. Ummm why not just decide before hand if you need to and set the price on actual things being replaced or performed
Then turned around and said they charge, I forget which, 750 or 1000 on every used bike sold as a fee. To recoup costs performed for replacing tires, performing oil changes etc
Wtf?!
Remember, this is at a dealership of a "Premium Brand,"
It would seem as though the only thing "Premium" is the prices - OK, and paint & chrome ... Harley has consistently been good with paint & chrome but the intelligence insulting moronic mindset of how the faithful are being treated just keeps getting worse.
Rolex has been the best over time at making itself a "Premium Brand" by doing much of the same things that H-D had done - keeping a tight reign on dealerships, supply, restrictions and the like. However, Rolex, despite their perfecting the antics Harley is muddling around learning has a stellar product with great retail a treats their customers like, well, customers of a Premium Product. Rolex sales people are trained, quizzed and tested by secret-shoppers from the mothership. They tend to understand that many of their customers are sophisticated and not easily BS'd. In other words, Rolex sales folk know their product and know their customer base.
News flash: Despite the similar backgrounds (compare Hans Wilsdorf to the Davidson brothers and William Harley) as well as similar marketing and distribution methods of the two companies - Harley ain't no Rolex.
