In 40 years of riding Harleys i have never struggled so much to get parts. Is this Covid fall out or some other reason or reasons. Many of their parts are made in China, is there something going on there. It's really bad to get a part at the moment....

Where have you been for the past 18 months? Empty shelves in grocery stores. Empty shelves in parts places. Parts prices going up significantly.
All your parts are sitting on the water waiting to be off loaded. Or the ship sank. Or the trucks need drivers. Or....maybe china doesn't wanna play nice right now and is holding back parts. Or....maybe all these companies are holding back parts just to raise prices and make more profit. Take your pick......
I had to order my standard, green fiberglass furnace filters (16" x 20" x 1",) from Wal-Mart online because they simply weren't in any local stores for months.
It took two weeks and they shipped form Oregon to me here in North Carolina (shipping $7.00.).What supply chain problems?
Everyone here says to “go aftermarket.” If you have an M-8 that’s not always possible. The aftermarket has been reluctant to tool up to make anything for the newer Harleys. I swear, sometimes I feel like I bought a Japanese bike by mistake considering how little aftermarket support there is for these newer bikes. I have to look at the tank emblems to be sure.
IMO, too much change for change’s sake.
