Default Hogworkz, TCMT or Advanblack Tour-Paks?

I recently purchased a no-name brand from Amazon (Ecotric). I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that it turns out that it won't stay closed when riding. The sides are so flimsy that they flex enough that the latch can't hang on to the catch on the lid. I tried buying better hardware but that didn't help. Of the three brands I mentioned in the title, which one do you think is best and why? I'm particularly concerned about the lid staying closed (obviously) on bumpy roads.

I am in for answers as well. I want the best brand without breaking the budget. The HD is just too expensive to justify over Hogworkz or Advanblack.

One thing to consider, the oem tour packs have a metal plate in the bottom which adds additional support. Do you have this plate installed? Also in my opinion advanblack stuff is the same thing you can buy on Amazon, it's not as strong as oem, if your looking for oem strength I would buy oem. I have owned advanblack and it's just not up to oem specs.

I bought a TCMT chopped tour pack several years ago and it has seen a LOT of miles. The only problem I have had is the retractable tether eventually stopped working. I got a SLMOTO king tour pack for the black hardware and additional space a couple years ago and it is much better than the chopped pack. It opens and closes much better and does not feel as flimsy. I put the metal base plate in the bottom to support it and I do not even worry about it anymore. I have been completely happy with the King tour pack. Especially for the money.

I do have a plate in there. I think the problem with the one I have is the walls are too thin and the tolerances so loose that it becomes impossible for the latch to hold onto. I just talked to Advanblack. Their cases are manufactured and painted in China, so to me that's the same as what I can get on Amazon. Guess I'm down to Hogworkz or HD ($$$)

Buy once, cry once.

You are now buying something twice and compounding your costs. There are plenty of used HD available that can be color matched to your bike.

a friend recently had an issue with his aftermarket tour pack....sorry forget which one

HD is great at making high quality ABS parts, I think it may have something to do with their former owners....AMF

I paid 2400 for my tour pack (CVO paint)....came in mint condition, everything assembled and working properly, perfect shut every time, and built like a brick shithouse

i wouldn't care if an aftermarket option were half the price, it's not a situation where aftermarket is better, it's cheaper because it's 'cheaper'
