I have adjusted my levers (front and rear) as low as possible to the floorboards that will allow enough travel to up or downshift.
I NEVER use the front lever to upshift.
When you move boards out, it's just as bad as down - they scrape earlier. It's especially bad if you use those spacers between the frame and the footboard support hardware. Then those bottom out and there isn't any forgiveness.

Harleymatic? ;-)

I much prefer a manual transmission. Both my other vehicles (cars) are "stick". I am not sure I could get used to an automatic of not. Not like I've never driven one, but I really like a standard a lot more.

About two trucks ago, I got caught in a major traffic jam because of a snowstorm. By the time I got home, I couldn't feel my left foot, from holding the clutch down.
Last two trucks have been automatic trans.
