I probably already know the answer (no) but I am finding the shifter a little too close to the toe of my left boot.
Yesterday I bought a pair of boots that just BARELY fit under the shifter .
So close, that I have to kinda scooch it in sideways and wedge my foot underneath. Almost to the point of it not being safe, so that has me saying no to wearing these
particular boots while riding.....if it comes to it. (my other 2 pairs of boots are "ish" but not too bad,.,....)
If I could lower the board by 1/4" to maybe as much as 3/8" I'd be happy, but I am betting they're not adjustable correct?
I have thought of just removing the shifter peg and adjusting it up 1 notch, but my left ankle does not have the greatest range of motion, so I might be asking for trouble.
I don't like the idea of putting a heel shifter on.
OP - FWIW - get an extended shifter arm. That will get the peg farther forward.
You can also add a longer peg, too
You can also move the arm up a notch to try your ankle out. Thats the only way to know for sure. Its easy to go back to the original position if needed.
I personally have done the above for my size 14W feet.
Ooooh. Extended arm, eh? hmmm, I just might have to look into that. I bet that would solve my problem right away. Even an arm an inch or so longer might do it.
Thanks for the great advice,. You'd think I'd know that there should be such a thing, right?
Extended shifter is good idea. You can also buy floorboard extenders, which will move the floorboard out about an inch. I would seriously try moving the shifter up one notch and see how that works. Sometimes (and I have done this many times) a simple lift of the foot rather than pivot at the ankle will work. Adjust shifter up and try lifting foot along with your regular shift methods.
I also recommend a extended shifter lever. I put a V-Twin #21-0256 on my 2010 FLHX and love it! I removed the heal shift lever, got the floorboard outward extenders and the HD forward extended floorboards too. https://www.denniskirk.com/v-twin-ma...prd/579499.sku
What would be the difference as far as you ankle with lowering the board vs raising the peg? You might get a little more gap just adjusting the linkage.
My preference is to use the heel shifter on any bike that has floorboards.
