I started looking at road glides at the beginning of last summer. New/used/almost new, etc. I thought waiting until the long winter here in the Northeast set in would be the perfect time to buy. I looked at a nice 2021 with 2000 miles on it at my local dealer in December, I sat on it, checked some installed aftermarket options, the price was just under $31000.00.
I waited a couple of weeks, meanwhike checking fb marketplace, craigslist, and some other dealers, pretty slim pickings. There were bikes for sale at really high prices. I circled back to the 2021 I had my eye on, I walked in to have a conversation with a sales guy, stopped at the bike, the pricetag was changed to $31599...for a used RGS. I was disgusted, I left not even asking about it, or throwing out an offer. Honestly, Im not sure what these dealerships are thinking. Maybe jacking up the inventory prices in preparation for the 2023s?
It's that time of year, back in 2019 I bought my FLHT for $1750 under MSRP in the fall when 2020's were coming in.
When I purchased my 2017 Road King in September of 2016, the very day they took it out of the crate, it was under MSRP. Sadly that dealer was sold to a mega.

Your bike was delivered to the dealership in a crate?

its a figure of speech. they literally had a truck in back and bikes all around with some in the shop having been already assembled. I admit to not watching them unload the truck or even looking into it, I just figured since I have seen other manufactures crate up bikes that Harley might as well to protect them when shipping

Sunk cost fallacy. They're stuck on stupid. It's happening with car dealers, motorsports, airplanes you name it. In many cases the simple explanation is that they paid too much for something months ago, and need to recoup the cost. Yet, the asset costs them money each day it sits, and loses more and more value in the market. A lot of dealers are going to go BK this year. If you want a bike, just wait. I wouldn't be in any hurry now to buy something. The auctions and repo lots are already filling up.
I buy, refresh a few motorcycles a year so I stay current on prices, and what's not selling in the classifieds, and nothing is selling.
I've only bought one bike in the last 6 months. yet this is the time of the year to have inventory. Income tax refunds will start hitting mail boxes. I think after March demands going to really crash here in the southwest.
Those are the fees they are taking off. No discount there. Until the dealer decides to remove fees and knock off the price by like 20 percent which is like 4-5k. Then I'll be buying regards of interest rates. I can afford to pay interest. Not like some of you poors out there lol

This doesn't make any sense. You'd rather pay extra $ in interest going to a huge bank in another state than pay that money to a local business?

What does your wealth got to do with any of this? You must be one of the "poor's" if your financing.
