Default HD Cowbell

@roussfam roussie kA-tousse, here is the continuation of our discussion.

Ok. The PIXs below are NOT measured with a level in a "professional" way and likely "VERY SLOPPY" to the point it is embarrassing but it will (sort of) get the point across.

From the factory, HD's Cowbells are INSTALLED a few degrees off of vertical in the counterclockwise direction.

It does not matter if the bike is upright or on the kickstand.

You can even "eyeball" they are cocked. Even with the not too discerning eye.

In total, between a friend of mine and me, we asked maybe 8 - 10 people over time and ALL of them (except maybe 1) saw it is OFF. Meaning NOT vertical when installed.

It is VERY obvious when you are in the HD store and see the baggers lined up. One after another, the cowbells are a few degrees counterclockwise.

Again my good friend, below are sh*tty measurements with the small level but the idea is intact. IMO. See below PIXs pls.

Do not go by my measurements above. Eyeball it yourself and/or level it yourself.

My question (which is not the 1st time I asked it here in HDF) is WHY do they come from the factory cocked???

1. Water/splash?
2. Whistles?
3. Someone was drunk installing it?
4. Some added audio effect when beep it?

No one to date came up with anything reasonable.

I once called and asked. Do not recall getting a return call. Maybe they thought I was a bit...

But the fact remains............cowbells are installed "crooked". Why???

Anyone?

What I have just discovered with my bike and now the cow bell is not straight is how it is mounted. There is a big rubber block. I held the cow bell straight down and did the nut up. When I let go it turned anti clockwise. I put the cow bell on held clockwise and did the nut up. It is better.

So it sits at an angle because it is a PITA to get sat straight!

Also GD think'n I'd say. If that were so AfS, then it would be cocked a few degrees in the clockwise direction. And I know HD is too smart for that to be the case.

There really must be a legit reason. This is not an accident. Each bagger EVERY time for literally YEARS??? THOUSANDS of them.

i think that they are installed crooked so they line up with the cylinders.

Not saying your observations are wrong, but the human eye can be fooled by the orientation of other objects nearby. In the example below, the lines separating the rows of squares are perfectly straight, but we don't see them that way:

In our case, could the orientation of the cylinders and tank behind the cowbell be tricking our eyes into thinking it's crooked?

That's the first thing I noticed on my '17 RGS. I promptly corrected it. My OCD was going haywire.

Mark, you crazy ****. Here I was thinking you were referring to a possible reflection in the cowbell of the person who took the pic.

I remember, it was my 21 yr old neighbor who took the pic while wearing a string bikini. I just checked, no reflection. Cowbell not square sheesh. No wonder we can't sneak any camel toe by you

Yes D-Mickie, but you won't fool the "level". See them PIXs above eh? The level shows the bell is crooked.
