Default Have you ever tried pure gas?

I found a gas station 9 miles from home that sells gasoline without corn liquor mixed in. Today I stopped in and topped off the tank of my EFI Sportster, so the mix was 50/50 pure gas and gasohol. With this 5% ethanol mix the difference in the bike's performance was a nice surprise. It was pulling hard, running great and seemed a little smoother. Whenever I'm over that way I'll treat the bike to a drink of real gas.
I found it from this site, Pure Gas.Org: https://www.pure-gas.org/
They list the stations in every state and Canada where gasoline is sold. The price was slightly higher than Premium. It's a crime to waste food while degrading the fuel system and performance of everyone's cars, trucks and bikes. Good ol Uncle Sam, he's here to help.

Old news.
you're increasing power was purely psychological it does not do that. But you will notice after a tankful or two that you are getting better gas mileage, and you will have less fuel system problems. Depending of course on the year of your bike.

Gasoline has more energy than ethanol. Look it up. They didn't force ethanol on us because it's a better fuel, they did it to enact corn subsidies, degrade our cars and show us all who runs Bartertown.
Denatured ethanol (98% ethanol) contains about 30% less energy than gasoline per gallon.
Bike ran better. Getting better mileage shows it takes less fuel to cover the same distance. My butt dyno confirmed it in the first ten miles.

I use Chevron 94 here in Squamish and it has no ethanol in it I believe
Added plus the gas doesn't go bad when the bike sits a while!!

In Wisconsin most stations sell non ethanol premium, and that’s what I use. I probably don’t have to, but I always store it over the winter with non ethanol. Some Kwik Trips, including the one in my town, have 87 Octane non ethanol. I’m going to use that in my small engines. I’ve been using premium non ethanol for years. Ethanol gums up over the winter if I forget to add stabilizer.

I live on a lake and the last five years we have had blue algae blooms, and excessive weed growth. The Federal government gave us a grant to clean up our watershed. Bottom line is too much agricultural fertilizer leaches in to the watershed. A DNR limnologist told me the farmers don’t leave a border around their cornfields anymore to prevent leaching, because they want to maximize the federal ethanol subsidy.

So the federal government not only foists this crappy gas on us, but incentivizes pollution, just because Iowa is the first Presidential primary. What a country!

I filled up with non ethanol on my last tankful and I do notice a difference. The throttle response is better and my old Evo seems to start a little easier with it.

Pure gas has an app. Non-ethanol gas is usually more common around areas where there are farmers. Privately owned farms often have gas powered tractors/equipment that is left in the field for long periods. It is also difficult to top them off when they sit far from the barn.

Since a partial tank of ethanol laced gasoline will attract moisture and degrade, cause rust, etc., most farmers and every vintage motorcyclist in known uses non- ethanol gas.

Best practice for us, boaters, farmers, etc is to fill up your tank when ever you are going to park it for more than a couple of weeks. Stops temperature induced air exchange which is how moisture gets into your tank.

Performance wise, I have anecdotal cases where I got much better mileage with ethanol free gas. Average is 43mpg, with ethanol free I’m 46. Many stations around me have ethanol free premium. Used in tractor, generator, chain saw, snow blower, plow, and my bikes. While traveling, I don’t worry and use any old premium. Since I’m a two laner, many are ethanol free, as I’m a back road junkie. But only when I’m close to home and know it might be a week or two before my next trip, I fill up with “pure” gas.

Glad you found it and are exploring it as an option.

The only place premium pure gas is available in my part of the world is at a marina. Its out of the way and the location isn't the best place to get a motorcycle in and out of. A few stations sell pure gas but only in 87 octane.
