Not sure what Hd is doing but a money grab . Went to renew my roadside assistance program. I usually purchase the basic coverage for $19.99 a year . After many attempts to call HD with the run around I finally got ahold of a supervisor . Was informed that HD does not carry the basic coverage anymore, and only offers the Ultra package . Good grief . I just received my annual magazine , what a joke . fist it said there were 3 options for roadside assistance ( NOT ) then I read a nice article of a person talking about riding threw the Kootneys into the Okanagan . noticed a pic of the Cranbrook HD store. It has been closed for 2 years . Finally saw that write up was from 2019 . LOL... BYE, BYE membership for good .
AAA has worked well enough for me. Also, Progressive I think still offers towing as an add on to your policy for a few bucks. No idea how good it is or who they use.
You’re gonna get the same or better with progressive as you are with the hog coverage. Neither one operate their own fleet of trucks, they’re just gonna contract it out to get you on the road again.
having said that though, i have had better luck with progressive than i have with hog. Hog left me stranded on the side of the road for 6 hours waiting for a tow (flat tire on a spoked wheel). They never were able to get anyone to show up. Wife rode her bike home, got the trailer and came back and got me. Progressive had me hooked up when we had a dead battery in less than 1/2 hour.
plus, with progressive, it’s less than $19.99 per year add on to your policy. And that includes trip interruption. If you have a breakdown more than 100 miles from home, they will cover you for food and lodging for up to 3 days.

Its common knowledge that HD Roadside Assistance is a complete waste of money. But every now and then a poor shlub has to find out the hard way.

Progressive is quite good, at least in my experience.

what is the milage/towing limit w/ Progressive? devils in the details.
HOG towing was like $50 reimbursement for a tow? (unless I recall wrong). About worthless without juicing up that plan.
After AAA left my son on the side of a well traveled highway for five hours in 100 degrees last year, I found a tow myself and got the car hauled to a shop ten miles away on my dime. That tow showed up in 30 minutes.
AAA had made multiple promises that afternoon, all to no avail, then they later promised (twice) to reimburse us for the tow we had found on our own. I never received squat.
