How would you feel? About a month ago the wife and I were setting out for the east coast. My 2 neighbors offered to ride with us for the first couple hundred miles so we said sure. We discussed the route then took off. I was leading when we were 25 minutes down the road riding in staggered formation, a light had turned red in front so I started to slow down when all of a sudden I feel the back of the bike lift and the worst crashing noise I have ever heard. The next 30 sec. were H#!! My wife was thrown off the bike and bounced down the road. I stayed with the bike for the most part till I heard my wife screaming then I tried to bail off bad mistake bike flipped out from under me and I wasdragged another 50ft down the road. Now this all started at 50mph. When every came to a stop my wife had multiple cuts, bruises and a broken ankle I on the other hand ended up with only road rash and a few bumps and bruises. Now here’s the question it turned out to be my neighbor who took me out. How would you feel towards him? Thanks in advace for any input.
What was the guy doing? I've ridden in tons and tons of staggered poker runs over 30 years and have never seen this happen. I've heard about it and I got rear ended by an idiot in a car once but WTF? I guess shiit happens but I hope your neighbor has good insurance.
Probably depends on his attitude regarding damage. If he is taking full responsibility for the accident and willing to do right or claiming that he is not completely responsible and having the insurance company jerk you guys around. When you said the light turned red prior to you slowing down was he attempting to run the light? If he hit you at 50 coming up to a red light how fast is the road you were on?
was it him not paying attention or what? just ran into the back of you? well my $ .02 is that my neighbor would have to show me a certificate show he passed a riders safty course before i rode with him again. as for "hard feelings" yeah, i would be a little pissed.
Hopefully he is manning up to his F*kk up, and HOPEFULLY between him and his insurance company, they make right on all your damages, lost wages and out of pocket expenses.
What has your neighbor said about the wreck so far?

Okay Mack, here's a tough question: Was the light red or were you anticipating it being red before the group made it through?
As a leader, that is a tough call; run the yellow and wait for the rest to catch up or stop early so the group stays intact.

Just a thought, but when you started to slow down did you tap your brake or just start gearing down? I rode with a couple of guys that would never hit their brake to let the peoplebehind know, they would just start slowing down.
Not a good thing to do in a group as there is a lot to watch for and it is easy to not notice without the brake light coming on.
