I was told a couple of weeks back that there was a deal in the works for a new owner of Smokin Harley Davidson in Winston-Salem, NC.
It was official February 1st and I am very excited. Jamie Lima from Moonshine HD has purchased this dealership.
The Carolina Girl and I got to meet Jamie today at Smokin and he is a super nice guy. He is a people person and brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm which the dealership has been missing since Ray Perry had sold.
I can tell the staff is excited, two people are in Tennessee training on the HorsePower side and this should be very good for the dealership and this area.
Here’s wishing Jamie and the team the best of luck moving forward. The managing partner on site is Jon Ward who worked for Moonshine. Jamie will make visits to the dealership monthly or more as time allows.
hum, I may add a cam to Belinda!
Exciting times!

I had an idea that dealership was going to be closed. Used to have a large following. But over the last few years, there hasnt been much at all going on. Im sure that will suck business away from Riding High and Down Home harley !
I bought my 19 Tri Glide from Smoking Harley-Davidson. Good people to deal with. They gave me more for my Ultra Limited trade in than any other dealer in the area. I can't say they're my local dealer because I live an hour away.

Man, cant suck much business away from riding high. I hate to say it, but it surprises me every month that they're still open. Never much business there that I see. I LOVE the service department there though.
I'm glad someone has bought smokin. I refused to do any business there the last few years after buying my 17 there and the way they treated me. Now maybe I will be back.

Interesting as a friend and I were just recently discussing this. I have purchased motor cloths and some accessories from time to time at Riding High. Nothing else. I have never seen anyone taking delivery of a bike there, ever.
My buddy has used their service department and he has been very happy with service. They treated him well.
What neither of us like is NO PRICES LISTED ON BIKES. This is a big red flag for me. About a year ago a young sales guy saw me looking at a used bike and walked over to ask me what I am riding now! I asked what they were asking for this bike, a nice used Breakout and he said he didn’t know off hand. That struck me as strange, and I made an assumption he would go and find out. Instead he walked over to another customer. They talked a couple of minutes and he looked over at as I was still inspecting the bike and wanted to know what I thought. I replied I think I would like to know your asking price. I was promptly met with come to my desk and sit down and we can look at the numbers.
That is the number one biggest turn off period. I refuse to waste another minute with any type of dealership that uses these tactics, period. Because of this I do NOT trust the dealership in High Point and would never waste my time trying to trade with them.
That is just my opinion.

I met Jamie as well on Feb. 9. Seemed like a great guy and there was definitely a buzz of excitement at Smokin. Very happy to see some renewed life at the place and hope that it becomes popular once again!

I dont like that either, but many dealerships don't put prices on their bikes. BUT....a good salesman should and would know the price of any of his bikes right off the bat, when asked.
I tried to buy my current bike from them several years ago. They wouldn't negotiate at all and tried to tack on a huge amount of finance points on me. 9 percent to be exact! My buddy called speedway and they got me the same bike for less than4 percent.
The service department at RH has done some work for me and charged me below rates. I also can get in rather quickly when I do need something done. Not sure thats a good sign, but its great when you dont have to schedule something 2 months out. lol
I don’t know that I will buy another bike from a franchised dealer again. After I got a great price, trade in and service the last time in WS from Neal Kettner sales.

I like to check their website. They always have nice bikes, but at top dollar asking price. I've wondered how they really are to deal with. I have many customers in that industrial park and when time allows I'll stop in. Their new addition is nice and they seem like good folks
