Then you have the knuckle heads who don't know how to ride, or they don't understand group riding etiquette and techniques, weaving in and out, yo-yo back and forth, or not maintaining their lane position. Or you get the idiots that pound alcohol at every stop then jump back on the bike and endanger everyone around them.
Nope. No thanks. Id rather spend my day cruising at my own pace, going where I want to go and stopping when I want to stop.
I hope they weren't doing anything stupid..
Yeah I get the blowout, but if they were very tight and weaving in and out of traffic, that could've compounded things..
Yeah I know BIG assumption....but ya never know....the rest of the story..
I hope everyone recovers from this.

I'm a loner for many of the reasons listed above. It always looks like it would be fun, but I just know myself, and I like being on my own.
Wishing them all the best of luck, it will be a tough road for some of them, and it might be the last ride for some of them.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Many years ago I was riding in the "passing lane" on a freeway when I heard the distinctive sound of tires sliding on pavement.
I immediately saw a bob-tail semi-tractor that had turned nearly sideways coming across the LH shoulder of the road towards the median and me!
I rushed toward the RH shoulder of my side of the freeway and as soon as I was "safe" I looked into my rear view mirror and saw a small group (6-8?) bikes that (I assumed) had been either beside or behind the out-of -control tractor colliding and crashing together!
Not having a cell phone back in those days I though the best thing to do was to get to a phone at the next exit a.s.a.p to call for help for those guys.
In less than two minutes I saw and ambulance on the other side of the freeway heading directly towards the accident (no lights or siren) so I knew help was on the way.
I still think (and wonder) about those bikers and hope that there were no fatalities.
My first and only HOG group ride. Been riding for 50 years. The leaders placed me near the front sine I was a noob. Several times, I received the signal to close the formation at speed. Very uncomfortable. Then, if we passed so much as a blade of grass in the road, everyone would have to point at it with their foot. Not my cup of tea but best to those that enjoy it.
