Harley-Davidson sales missed estimates again, with CEO Jochen Zeitz blaming tariffs, promising more cost cuts and increased marketing initiatives as the riding season kicks off. I smell deals!
Total motorcycle shipments to dealers fell to 38,600 in the first quarter of 2025 from 57,700 in the same period last year, a drop of 33%. Retail sales fell less, at 21%, to 31,000 worldwide from 39,400 in the first quarter of 2024.
LiveWire sales fell 72% to a total of 33 electric motorcycles in the first three months. Thats a global sales figure.
The MoCo pulled its full-year forecast b/c of tariffs and JZ said the answer is diligent execution of our cost productivity measures, supply chain mitigation, tight operating expense control and reducing dealer inventory. That is all defense.
Interesting that JZ, who is on his way out, uses all of his titles Chairman, President and CEO in the press release. The stock is down 25% YTD.

Dealerships are loaded with inventory, including many new 2024 models. You can get pretty much any year 24 -25 in any color at almost every dealership in my area.
But the dealerships still want MSRP and all their BS fees. I just bought a 2022 RG Limited at a screaming deal, 4k miles and $14k less than MSRP for a 2024 new on the show room floor. Daytona HD, during Bike Week, was asking $39k for a 2024 RGL, madness. Just sayin', deals are out there.
There may be good deals to be had, and that's great for buyers. An unhealthy HDMC is anything but good news for the owners of those bikes. Considering all the individual factors and people that are combining to damage H-D, the perfect storm could be about to happen.
