Default Greetings from Wild Wonderful West Virginia!!

My name's Charlie, and I'm 58. I rode dirt bikes from around 10 years old till about 20, and then pretty much quit . I always kept a 4 wheeler, but hadn't swung a leg over a bike up until about 4 years ago, when I took early retirement. I just started back to riding out of boredom, and the fact that my nephew needed to sale his Yamaha XT 225 ( small street legal Enduro). I enjoyed the nimble little bike, but wanted something a little better for longer faster runs, and ended up with a KLR 650, which I started using almost exclusively, and caught myself only riding the XT usually because it needed started, and ran. I finally decided to sell it, and a guy came to buy it, and wanted both bikes. He offered me a better price than I would have thought I could have gotten for it, so I sold both. I thought I would just quit riding again, but I really miss riding, and I will probably get a used Harley. I have my eye on 4 different ones close enough to me, but 2 really are tempting. They are a 2002 Deuce with around 10,000 miles, and has saddlebags, and a barrel bag, as well as a windshield. Looks great in the pictures, and from what I see the tires look good. It's black, and appears to have some sort of subtle flame pattern. It's listed for $5000 firm. The other is a 2009 Dyna Street Bob, with about 18,000 miles. It's also black and from the pictures, its got no bags, or anything else with it . It says it has a nearly new rear tire on it, and a new front tire comes with it. It's also $5,000, but not listed as firm. Between these two bikes, which would be the best buy ? I really don't know what to expect on the handling on these bikes, because I have never had a heavy bike. I appreciate all advice. Thanks

@WV_Charlie I have moved this thread from the Welcome section to the General Harley Davidson Chat section as you will get better responses to your question in this section.
The Welcome section is more for introducing yourself & letting other forum members know what Harley Davidson you own.

Partial to the Softail Duece. Mine has 50 k and still runs like new. The Dyna has the first roller chain on cams i think

2009 definitely has roller chain.

Duece has a link chain. Duece probably sits lower. There not that heavy. Just go easy at first.

I was just south of you growing up.

Welcome to the HDFORUM.

I think the Deuce looks a lot better, but in my opinion the windshield looks bad on it. Both bikes are close to me. The Deuce is in Gallopolis Ferry , and the Street Bob is in Letart. I will probably try, and look at one, or possibly both tomorrow.

That would be the Deuce, although as I mentioned in a previous comment the windshield looks odd on that style of bike. I will try again to post a link, but it doesn't seem to show up

Needs the correct shield. OEM. Clear. You look over it and tinted is just a distraction to the look of a bike.
Took the long to be below my eye level.. Mine has the clip on mounts. Was a 2003 Anniversary model.

I use to travel. I have a throw over Saddleman bag and the Duece leather saddlebags.

Took me all the way to Florda and Sturgis from VA once. Use to ride year round. It would be miserable without a shield.

Keep in mind, certain required parts are no longer available for these bikes.

I messaged the owners of both bikes earlier today, but have not heard back about the Deuce. I am supposed to look at the Street Bob tomorrow at 4:30. He says it has a broken front brake switch, and the brake light stays on unless you " Prop" the lever. It's only about 15-20 minutes away from me, so I will look. I have tried to post links to the Facebook Marketplace listings, but they don't post. I will try screenshots and see if I can post them.
