So now you want to play spelling police! What a joke.

The fact remains youdecided to do 90 in a 70 with 2 infants in the car. You got caught. That makessomeone elsethe idiot, not the people that disagree with you. The really lucky thing, for you, is that it wasn't my kids in the car with you.
You wouldn't have made court.

I know I'm new here but wow, I was just wondering where all this money is going when the fines are paid, it sounds like everyone thinks the street cop gets the money, well I have not seen it over the last 15 years I have worked the street. We are under paid, out of date equipment, and over worked, has any of you ever been to an accident that involved someone doing 90 plus. I hate telling parents and spouses they lost a family member due to an accident. Figure it out how much rubber is on the ground at 90mph. We just lost two more bikers last week, speed did it again. Rules are for a reason, some are pretty stupid but it's the best we have.
Don't get on your high horse with me! I am not the reason people die on the freeway. Driving 90 in a 70 is not in and of itself unsafe. You're an idiot if you think so.

First. Welcome! It matters not how long you've been around, but how much you have to offere and whether or not you show your rear.

Now, on to the second topic, and actually the reason for this thread.

I know that police are underpaid. A lot of professions aren't paid fairly. But somehow, putting your neck on the line for $13 an hour doesn't seem fair in any market.

I also understand that several municipalities have outdated equipement. I know that revenue is a concern and the money is used (although not 100% of it) to pay for the equipment.

Also, speeding in and of itself is not dangerous. In my case, for example, 90 wasn't unsafe at all.

I was riding in a new Nissan Maxima on I-75 in the far left lane. The car is in good mechanical working order and is designed for performance.

I was on the freeway driving in a straight line. I wasn't weaving in and out of traffic or driving recklessly. If anything I was moving slightly faster than the flow of traffic.

I did not even have the chance to plead my case. Yes, I wanted a reduced fine and no points on my record. However, I am a bit jaded by the impression that the system doesn't care about right or wrong, fairness, or safety. I got the impression that the system is more concerned about revenue.
I see you've come back and edited this post twice. Good for you.

I type fast and make a lot of posts in a short amount of time. I misspell somethings. For some reason when I post here, my spell checker isn't automatically turned on. I have to turn it on manually.

I wouldn't expect a hunt'n'pecker to misspell a word as simple as 'lesson'

I'm not simply playing "spelling police." There's more to me pointing out your spelling error than you think, evidently. The reason that you don't understand that is the same reason I can't explain it to you.

I am a reasonable and intelligent person, please do explain. Unless of course it can only be understood by someone as cerebral as you!

Driving 90 in a 70 zone when traffic is moving at 85 is not unsafe. If you think it is, you're an idiot. If you think driving 70 in that situation is safe then you're really an idiot and a bigger road hazard than me going 90.

In your original post, you had the cruise set on 80 so I guess until you sped up you were the hazard.(5 miles slower thanthe traffic flow)

I'm not the joke. If you seriously think that doing me bodily harm is justified by my speeding, then you are.

I never threatened you with harm, hell Mike I don't even know you, other than by your post here.

BTW idiot, the father of those children (an infant and a toddler) is an LEO and offered to pay the fine because he thought I wouldn't have been driving like that without his children in the car!

Well now that you have explained that the "KIDS" being in the car made you do it, I surethis "Idiot"canunderstand.

I'll continue to drive in a way that I think is safe. If that means doing 120 mph on a straight road with little traffic when the speed limit is 70, then I will.

[/quote]

Kind of ironic....reading this reminds me of all the discussions on here about seeing ricers hallin' a$$ down the interstate. Fortunately, they cannot fit child seats on the back of their bikes.

I'm the one on the high horse. Here's a guy that calls people idiots, thinks it's ok to break the law, because "i'm just keeping up with traffic".......Please. Yep, it's going to take a very big poster board and a lot of crayons to spell it out for this guy. And I bet that won't work, you obviously don't have the brain power to comprehend what people are saying to you. I suggest you start another "donate money to me thread", so you can buy a clue. Otherwise I have had more productive conversations with my 6 year old. It's disturbing to me that there are people like you that think speed limits and other laws don't apply to them. Yea, your a big man to make fun of someones spelling mistakes that are more than likely typos. Believe it or not, when you go whatever speed you wish with total disregard for the limit set for that roadway than you do think you are above or better than everyone else and the law does not apply to you. Whatever, I guess I should say thanks, people like you keep me busy, you know, job securty. Well, I guess the only hope everyone has is that you will keep breaking traffic laws and hopefully will loose your license.

No one is without fault of any kind. Some mistakes, eorrors in judgement, and violations of the rules have mitigating circumstances.

Exactly. When I moved into the far left lane to pass the trucks, I saw that traffic was coming up behind me quickly. Rather than being a hazard, I decided to increase my speed.

Here's the original post -> http://www.brainbucketmag.com/Blogs/...ay/id=212.html

However, I wasn't as much of a hazard had I been doing 70.

You said that if it were your kids, I wouldn't have made it to court, right? That may not be a direct threat, but you are saying that you would cause me bodily harm if the circumstances were different.

I never said I did because the kids were in the car. I said that my brother didn't think I would've if the kids weren't in the car. I drove 90 mph because I felt like it was the best choice for the conditions I was in. It's a decision I made. Given the same set of circumstances, I would probably make it again.

Is it against the law? Yes. Is killing someone against the law? Yes, but not in self defense. I've always said that my speeding was in a way some form of self defense. That's why I'm confident that a plea of "Guilty with Mitigating Circumstances" would've resulted in the same outcome as now.

BTW, "kids" are goats. Children are young humans. I didn't have any goats in the car with me

I harbor no hard feelings toward you, just the way of thinking that your posts represent to me. If I've misinterpreted your posts, then I'm sorry. Either way if I see you in a bar and you wanna talk motorcycles, I'll always share a beer. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

You have got to be kidding. No reasonable person can deduct that I have a lack of morals from anything I have posted in this thread.
