Anyone have experience selling to a buyer in Japan or other overseas locations?
I'm not fond of selling to an overseas buyer, but if it ain't selling here and I have a buyer thats the way it goes.
I would be leery of selling to an overseas buyer as well. But I have a friend who sold a rotisserie restored '68 Shelby GT 500 Mustang to a buyer in Australia and it went without a hitch. Still I would proceed with caution.

It CAN be done......friend sold a 33 Ford he built to a guy in NORWAY a few years back.
Today.......way too many complicated scams, wouldn't even attempt it.
The ONLY way I would do this was IF the buyer was "in person". with cash in hand.
Once you get the funds, he gets a "Bill of Sale) (you also keep a copy), he gets a completed title (you make a copy) and the rest is his/her responsibility.
Not sure how things work in other states but in Michigan YOU are the owner of the vehicle until that vehicle is registered elsewhere and this is why I always have a Bill of Sale, signed and dated by both parties.
Ive bought parts with no issues. I’d look further into it.
The difficulty nowadays isn’t selling FROM the US , it’s selling TO the US.
Depends on whether you are talking about Vehicles or Parts?
Never bought a vehicle but have also bought plenty of parts from the US and around the world, normally on eBay but not always. Also never had any issues with the parts. Quite a few of the times, the particular part I want is only available OS so I have had a choice of either buy it OS or not - Australian dealers don't always have a great range of stiock and if it is a bit old then it won't be available in Australia. That said I always try to buy from someone who offers Paypal.

I have a neighbor who paid for a Porsche that is in Germany months ago. He was supposed to have it in September. The deal has been fubar every step of the way. Last I heard the car was at the port in Savannah two months ago and caught up in some kind of customs quagmire.
What potential issues would the seller encounter?
You obviously wouldn't proceed until funds were secured
Can't be any different than selling to a Mexican or Canadian citizen..
