This is a custom creation by Harley displayed at the Mama Tried Bike show in Milwaukee recently. If you ask me, this is EXACTLY what the MoCo needs to put into production. There is zero reason Harley couldn't build a competitive sport bike, especially with all the track data from the King of the Baggers racing program.
Gorgeous bike, and a legit path for the sport bike community to get into Harley and want to stay as their riding needs change.
I hope they make exactly this bike, and also a cheaper plastic bodywork version with the 1250, and an even cheaper version with the 975.
Buell has started delivery of their sport bike, had a chance to see it at a local show. It appears to be a well built, quality machine. Also really like that FL shovel behind it, we've had that in the shop a few times over the years.

I probably would never buy one, but I do like this bike. It looks fast sitting still. I think HD did a great job making it look modern while still giving a nod to its late 1970s predecessor.
People don't go to a Harley Dealer to buy a Sport Bike.
Most likely as they don't make one! Harley needs to have more offerings for the younger crowd , who might choose speed and agility and wouldn't be caught dead on a bagger.
That is pretty similar in looks to what a lot of the Pan Ams running in the Super Hooligan series look like, just with the addition of the little fairing. Super easy for Harley to adapt the Pan Am ST to this look and give it a different name, but I doubt Harley has anyone with enough active brain cells in their design department to do it. I spoke to a guy who has connections to some people at Harley and made this very suggestion to him. The Pan Am ST is a different animal, but it isn't drawing much attention because it looks like the Pan Am adventure bike. The response I got back was Harley basically doesn't see any interest there and people will customize their own if they want that look. Don't know exactly who he knows or talked to about it, but that was what he said. I told the same thing to a guy who appeared to be somewhat in charge when the Harley demo truck was at the local dealer end of last summer. He was nice enough but was trying to brush me off, said the design team works on all kinds of stuff. I doubt he ever mentions stuff like that to anyone.
I am more interested in the Buell super cruiser anyway now that they are in production.

They attempted it with the XL based Buell
Try again I guess, but today you`ll have to equal or beat the competition on Performance AND Price
That`s a TALL order

This trend of the short tail section and no passenger seat makes no sense to me.
Why would anyone want a bike you couldn't give the hot chick a ride home. And there's no room to even bungee cord on a jacket or lunchbox.
