Default WHY IS IT ?

"Why is it" when I ride down the road , I see metric bikes with matching armored jackets and full face helmets. When I go into there shops I see lines and lines of protective gear that’s CE approved and it tells you how many jewels of protection the armor has. They have nice protective undergarments and leather, textile and mesh "armored " gear in many colors.
So "why is it" when i walked into my home town harley shop and ask the salesman to help me find a "armored perforated leather jacket " that he gazes at me with a weird look and stated. QUOTE - ARMOR ? THEY PUT ARMOR IN JACKETS ? WE HAVE THE 08 HARLEY PRINT JACKETS WITH THE HARLEY EMBLEM ON THEM. I took the time to explain about protective armor installed into the elbows , shoulders and the back for crash protection. He laughed and said quote -WE CANT EVEN GET RED OF THE DOT APPROVED HELMETS LET ALONE ARMORED JACKETS.
"Why is it" in the highway patrol crash analysis brochure you can pick up at any HP office, that the largest growing fatality rate among motorcycles are Harley riders 40 and over ? "Why is it " that Harley riders with the "BAD A*S ATTITUDE and I don’t need no protection are the very one’s that sustain 45% more injures and almost all sustain head trauma from the lack of approved helmet use.
"WHY IS IT" it has become more popular to take a chance on your life to be considered "COOL" rather than being a good example and ware protective gear ?
"WHY IS IT" Were beginning to look like the fool in the motorcycle community ?

Nothing personal, but 'why is it' that people worry so much about what others wear while riding.

Adults should be mature enough to make their own decisions when dealing with protective equipment (or lack of such).

I don't tell anyone what I feel they 'should wear', and I expect the same in return.

Yep ! Fxrg has gortex also. I got me one last year and got my wife one. But when people look at jackets they look at price, not what's in them. Sure was a nice jacket this past winter.

Have you gone to the clothing dept at H-D and talked to the person in the clothing dept. Asked them if they can order you a Jacket with the body armor like in the Fxrg.

If you call these folks they will tell you how to git measured and you can have it build especially for you. And have a zip out liner. Give em a call.

I did a lot of searching before I shelled out $400 for a good leather. Harley has 0 riding jackets for tall people with armor.

Finding tall sizes in general can be tough but I see a lot of bikers that are my size and bigger (6'4") out there. You'd think there'd be more of a selection.
