I have been chasing a small gas leak. The bottom of my tank was getting moist with gas every so often. I remember having it off the bike serveral times in the last week, bumping the petcock and turning it back into place with my hand. Did not figure it out until last night just as I fell asleep.
Someone told me to always look for the simplier things first and if you have a problem look at the last thing you fixed. With that said, when the show Tool Time came out, my wife said they finally made a show about me! Tim
Are you using a high-flow petcock? I'm just wondering because I had a leak from the original petcock on my '03 Fatboy, and that usually doesn't happen. Of course, you must be since leaving the oem petcock open doesn't cause leaks....

The tank and petcock are all after market stuff. The nuts were loose, the one on the petcock and the one inside the helmet.
