Seems to me that if he just is wondering about a remap, the question would be do the new pipes flow a lot more air than the old ones. If they're the same, the bike will probably run the same. If they flow more, he may get lean and need the remap.
So maybe the question should be... where do we find some sort of measurement that indicate volume of air passed by any particualr pipe? That might be useful info...
Seems like a good way to go, Maybe you should ask the tech at HD the reason for the map upgrade and see if they have that kind of info.
What I don't understand is if you had a stage-1 remap and they want to do another remap for the new pipes, Does that mean thay will be doing a Stage-II remap?
I always thought that HD remaps were general and not specific in nature.
I'd would be interest to know if I'm wrong about this.......
