I will agree with what you have to say Terry, but the whole situation of getting a SERT or PC III to really perform is based on access to a knowledgeable and dedicated dyno man. Unless of course you get a map that just happens to be perfect for your particular set up. For one that lives in a state that has six HD dealerships and none with a dynamometer it forces you to find and Indy with a dyno, and guess what, there are five here and none are real good. For those that have access to a great dyno man treat them like gold because they are really hard to find. Early next spring the warranty expires on my 06 Wideglide and I will install a 98 or 107 cubic inch kit. So I am going to go ahead and replace my PC III with a Thunder-max with Auto-tune. For me, if it works like it is claimed to, then it will be money well spent. You are right, high performance is costly, and going high performance with reliability is even more costly. But if you want to play, you’ve got to pay.

Since this thread is two years old, and Terry gave great advice, i am just adding to it, The DTT TCFI II and the T-Max Autotune are definitely state of the art when it comes to tuners,and they aren't married to the stock ECM. Endless tuning capabilities, wide band O2 sensors and so far, good reliability. Weren't available when this thread was originally written.

Well said ! I got about10 harley dealers in a 125 mile area. One does not have a dyno. Most of them that does, the dyno machine is broke. I know a mechanic that spent 2 yrs with H-D in performance. He is one of the only peope I know that can open the program on a sert and understand the program. Its a very large program and most tuners don't understand it little on dynoing. Make changes to yer bike and yer back to square!

For warranty purposes I had the dealer git me a set of D&D 2-1 pipes with a quiet baffle and the SE high flow box and the TM with A/T and install it. I got 78hp and 82 tq. not bad for a 07 out of the box
Since then I've done a 103 indy build and pushing 103 tq in 4th gear.
I use the SERT and think it is a great piece of equipment (though I was pissed when I found out that you had to buy the cabling separate). It is actually much cheaper than most car tuning solutions with similar functionality, and MUCH less expensive than a standalone ECU+O2 sensors. If you want to play, you're going to have to pay, no matter what type or brand of vehicle you are talking about.
That's all fine and good. What I'm most curious about is this 117ci monster mentioned in the initial post. What motor is this, how much does it cost, and where would one go about buying one?
I missed that part but these folks are offering good numbers. Check them out. I know the S&S 117 Side winder motor is screaming but don't know if it will fit yer bike.
