Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease Listen - OLD POST
What if you do a 95" kit, as many do, those folks aren't going to put the 88" cylinders, etc. back on the bike and return it to stock form (they probably used the stock cylinders and bored them). So to pull the PCIII of that bike is to screw the new buyer. So the idea of being able to move a PCIII from bike to bike is certainly true, literally, but many PCIII users aren't going to return the bike to factory stock condition when they sell.
If you happen to be the realtively rare person to return your bike to exactly stock trim to remove the PCIII prior to selling, that's your choice. But very, very few sellers will do that and for them the portability of the PCIII is largely a myth.
Bluerose, I think nadil's point was with respect to mods to a bike that are made rideable by the PCIII. Say you have an '07 that is already very lean, so therefore, very hot. You put some nice slip-ons or true duals on the bike and a good high flow a/c. To make that work, you put a PCIII on the bike. Now, if you pull the PCIII off the bike, but leave the slip-ons and a/c, the bike will be super lean and the buyer is getting an unrideable bike from you. If you take the pipes/slip-ons off along with the a/c and return everything to stock form, then no big deal.

If I do some huge upgrades that require something like a PCIII or SERT for the bike to run correctly or sell then it would stay....but it really depends on what you have done. For my setup it would not be a bad thing to take the PCIII with me even with the change in pipes. As long as I don't sell the bike by letting the potential buyer test ride with the PCIII on and then ripping out the PCIII I don't think I am akin to a "a sleazy used-car salesman".
Like I said though. Besides mobility in the PCIII, you have to look at what you are investing in , cost effectiveness, and what you are looking to get out of it. A SERT would do nothing for me at that cost....a PCIII is more then enough for what I want to do and way more cost effective. To each thier own.
My bike won't go back to completely stock but many multi-fit parts would go with me. The lose of 50 -75% on a part I would buy again (if stillgood condition) would be more cost effectively moved then to sell with the bike.
Oh what a bunch of azz kissers...
Terry, that wasa terrible post...
So there, I said it.
