Oh, I see now. You released both brakes. Okay, well, you should have come to a complete stop after the skid. See, if you release either the rear or both when your back tire is not aligned with the front, it will always try to correct itself by snapping you like that.

Thanks again to all for the great replies. FYI, I ride an 06 Electraglide Classic. I also have the EZ Brake. The bike had about 20 pounds of luggage and I am 240. I was covering my breaks, but admittedly I was not anticipating the bonehead move by the car. Your posts have a common thread of practicing the correct braking techniques until they become automatic. I am going to add that to my practice of slow manuevers. At age 60, with about 6 years of riding experience, I want to keep riding for a long time; so I will continue to be an eager learner!

You were lucky to keep upright I think the low center helps on HD but sometimes the bikes still go down.. Maybe the turn you made helped.
