Getting to much vibration
Figured I would post here first and see if anyone has an idea what to check next.
Wife has an 02 Dyna FXD and just had her 30,000 mile service. I had them check
the cam tensioners and sure enough the inside one was ready to destroy itself (the
outer one was worn but within spec). I had them replace it with HD's new super kit
which has new cams, chains, cam plate and higher output oil pump. I also had them
go through the carb because it was running real rough (alot of vibration) and we thought
maybe some crap got into the jets. Well we got it back and the Wife noticed it STILL
is running rough and maybe even worse than before. I ran it up to 60+ MPH and pulled
in the clutch and it ran smooth. So I figured it wasn't a wheel weight (balancing) problem.
What I mean buy running rough is ..... It was like riding her 2000 Sportster !
She has forward controls with floorboards and you can FEEL the vibrations pretty
bad in them where as before it was nice and smooth. I was thinking could it be some type
of timming is off ? Or could it be a motor mount is loose or going bad ?
I have another set of plug wires and I was going to switch them and see it it helped.
This problem was happening even BEFORE she had the work.
Any Ideas ?
Thanks ....
Rob ....
I to own a Ultra and a 03 Dyna.....which has 20,000 miles....
I ride the Dyna seldom,,, but when I do get on it,,, I feel LOTS of vibration through handle bars,
forward controls,seat......
its like wow,, I cant remeber this being so ruogh..... but I see no probs,,, I wrote it off as nature of the beast,,, and nothing compares to a Ultra Classic!!!!!
I also have a 99 FXDWG with a 1550 Stage 2 kit and it does not even have hardly
any vibrations from either the seat, pegs or handlebars .....
There is definatly something wrong ....
